There's clearly something to be said for preparing things in advance. As it seems the days I was going to spend gathering some form of gifts have now been overrun with bloodthirsty medieval medical practitioners, I'll just have to consider my lesson learned.
As that's the situation and all I have on hand is a pen and notebook, you'll just have to settle for that in which I most often deal--information.
I don't claim to understand the operation of parallel worlds as Zelretch does. As a result it isn't possible for me to say 'this is how it's going to be' should we defy the impossible and restore everything to the way that it once was. Regrettably, saying with certainty that your future is a desirable one is something I can't do despite my wish to the contrary.
But Zelretch be damned, I know myself no matter the Second Magic bullshit. And since that's the case, there's a number of things I can assume and guess at.
Most importantly, you're an idiot.
Or at least, people think you are. But that's the trick of it--people underestimate an idiot. No one expects an idiot to turn around and suddenly be a genius, which you and I both know is the truth of the matter. If all goes perfectly and we manage to go home, obviously I don't know that you'll end up the same way I have. But I don't doubt for a second that you could. That's the difficult part: almost no one's going to believe in you or your abilities. What you need to do is straighten up and believe in yourself. The only word that matters when it comes to that is your own.
No matter what happens or how you end up, I want you to know this. You have more potential than anyone could ever guess at. If we don't all die and if you don't fuck up, someday you might just live up to it and make everyone listen to an idiot.

Good luck. You'll need it.
Happy goddamned Christmas, idiot.
